These three early 20th century gold filled or plated brooches are all in very good condition.
The sorority piece actually consists of two pins, connected by a 1-1/2 inch chain: the Beta Sigma Phi emblem with seed pearls and enamel (just over 1/2 inch across) and the goldtone torch (about 5/8 inch long). The back of the emblem piece is marked Balfour. Balfour & Co. have been creating class, fraternity, sorority and other academic commemorative items since 1913.
The starburst or snowflake features blue and white rhinestones and measures about 7/8 inch in diameter It is unmarked.
The one-inch bar brooch is marked FP in a diamond, the mark for the early 20th C. jewelers Fritz & Pruefer. It is also marked "Pat Apr. 19 10" (the 10 is hard to see in the photo), which means a patent was approved in 1910 (Apr. might mean either Approved or April).
