Vintage Silk Brown & White Kimono

This vintage Japanese Kimono is made of silk inside and out. The exterior is a rich brown with subtle, detailed patterns hidden below a white wave line pattern. Zoom in, it's stunning. The interior is a solid red and yellow throughout. (Pictures 8 and 12 show a small brown spot on the yellow fabric inside). This piece appears to be unworn and still has many baste stitches in place. This piece is not marked with a size (or gender) and I'm not very familiar with measuring kimonos or haoris. Based on how I normally size unmarked pieces, this piece would be a size XL. The only real consideration is the length. There is leeway with the overlapping fabric in the front, so please use these very approximate flat lay measurements: Pit to pit: 23.5" Waist: 22.75" Hips: 26" Sleeve length: 21.75" Total length: 54" As it was explained to me by the original seller (so take it with a grain of salt), destroying old kimonos is frowned upon in Japanese culture. For this reason, many dealers are happy to sell these pieces to foreigners abroad. This kimono is being sold with reverence and cultural appreciation, not appropriation.
