A sweet Japanese Lacquerware box in red urushi maki-e in a sakura blossom pattern. The box holds the 6 matching little sweets dishes with sakura blossom patterns in gold. Three of the dishes have 3 petals and a flower, the other three have 5 petals and a flower. All dishes and the box are in great condition with a few small signs of age and wear. I found no chips or cracks. Perfect for little candy or sweets dishes, to hold a few trinkets or to use as small coasters. The box is marked underneath with the little Zohiko elephant mark. Zohiko is a traditional high-end maker and retailer of lacquerware in Kyoto that started in the 1600s and exists to this day.
Size: The dishes are 3-1/4 inch in diameter (ca 8.2 cm)
