War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy Collectors Edition Easton Press 1981 First Thus Ed.

This is "War and Peace" by Leo Tolstoy, translated by Louise and Aylmer Maude, and Illustrated by Fritz Eichenberg. This Collector's Edition was published by advance reservation exclusively for subscribers of the Easton Press collection of The 100 Greatest Books Ever Written. The frontispiece portrait was specially commissioned for this edition and, like the other special contents, is copyright 1981 by The Easton Press, a first thus edition. It has red genuine full leather boards with original elaborate gilt decorations deeply embossed into the rich, genuine leather, front and rear covers. A traditional hubbed spine, peach moiré silk endpapers, text and illustrations printed on special, acid-neutral paper and a permanent peach satin ribbon page marker is bound into the volume. The pages are sewn into the binding (not glued) and the pages are gilded at all three sides of the page edges. This book is in near fine condition. There is the slightest shelf wear to the covers including a little loss to the gilding on the bottom. The pages are clean. The binding is firm. Please see all the photos.
