simplyangell @djgross5 Oh my gosh Jodi, it is the best thing in the world! I don't know if it because you have been so long without your own kids, that your grandkids fill a void. I just love looking at them and knowing they are a part of me and I can love them so deeply and be a solid part of their lives in a whole different way then which I loved and raised my own kids. I hope I am saying it right but it is just so hard to put this feeling in words.....

djgross5 I get exactly what you mean I still have my youngest at home he is 18. But just said to my husband last night I think it's different for women when their children are grown I feel like I don't have a sense of worth right now... I have been raising my kids for so long I feel like something is missing not doing it anymore... And having grand kids I can have a piece of that back but not full time... I just can't wait to breathe them in, And never exhale because time just goes way to fast!!! ❤️

greeks2 @simplyangell Hi, you are correct for me anyway. My grandchildren do fill a void in me. I raised three daughters, grown and gone. I have a granddaughter from my oldest daughter, she is 8 and she lives next door to me. I have a grandson from my youngest daughter, he is 8 months now. I have been raising him since he was a month old. Talk about a jolt to the system to start again at 61, but I would not have it any other way. My grandchildren bring me such joy! It is so nice to meet you!

mmh0525 @simplyangell, thank you he is my big baby. Have had him for a very long time. Vs showing, now he has become a trail, pleasure horse. TIP, is really funny, he will follow me around, gets jealous if i pay attention to my other pets, likes taking off my hat, etc etc.. Your grandchildren reminded me of my 2 year old grandson Jaston. My daughters son, loved & spoiled to death. unfortunately i do not get to see him very often.

mmh0525 My daughter & grandson live in OK; where i live in TN on a huge 350 acre farm, with currently just 1 horse vs 3 - 4 pleasure horses, black angus cows, 3 dogs, 3 stocked ponds, deer, birds, etc etc.

simplyangell @mmh0525 Thank you so much.... You sound like you stay pretty busy on your farm. I imagine your grandson has a blast when he does get to visit Grandma. My sister lives on about the same land in Missouri. She has the horses, stocked ponds, birds, dogs and we were talking on the phone last week and she mentioned getting 2 angus cows. Oh, she had a potbelly pig but she said their life expectancy isn't too long and when he died, she didn't want another....

mmh0525 thank you for your kind response. I really do not stay that busy on the farm. It pretty much maintains itself. True we or should i say my husband fertilizes yearly our pastures. (limes, fertilizes, plus puts out seed - fescue) via tractor & spreader. The angus cows are a hobby to him.

mmh0525 He has been at his regular job / company for over 43+ yrs., then 1 pasture he seals off for our hay - which is total fescue & clover. We get 2 cuttings out of this one pasture, which we get enough huge round bails to feed our cows & horses throughout the year. Our cows are grown and fed, hormone free - all natural - $ we sell our boy babies each year & keep our girl babies. we have 2 cows that deliver twins each year - usually end of December.

mmh0525 i feed my horses our own hay, sweet feed, treats.. and we buy & give shots to our animals ourselves, except rabies, a vet comes to our home and takes care of that. plus farrier comes out every 12 weeks to do my horses.

mmh0525 basically with pond access horses & cows take care of themselves. i do feed my horse daily . 2 outside dogs have feeder, plus get daily treats, and meal left overs. Inside yorkie i take if daily. plus all 3 have special colors- i have underground fencing. Plus Ebony my Yorkie lets me know when she wants to go out and in. only takes seconds/a few minutes.

mmh0525 i thought about a little piggy.. but forgot until this past December.. when i was on trail ride & one if my horses tried to commit suicide on govmt mountain.. He is scared to death of pigs, wild boars etc. i was on top of him, when he started backing up & threw himself backwards off of top of mountain.

mmh0525 some horses ate just naturally scared of them.. some not. Prior to buying, perhaps your sister should take her horses to a farm or place that has pigs and check if her horses start quivering, skin tightening, wrinkling, shaking, & ck nd see if the horses look like they can be tilted over, like a cow. Also if she has mares. sometimes they get very protective over the cows.. so protective that u cant catch your horses. ,

mmh0525 this happened to me to two mares. They refused to leave the cows. my other mares cared less. Tip comes running to me each and every time i call him, so did Ginger my last mare. They knew it was feeding time.. and came running .. i could do anything i wanted with either one. ride, load, trail riding, farrier, feed.. no problem what so ever & we have more than 2 cows.. right now since it is hobby, maybe 25 heads.

mmh0525 oh, i am not used to it. Hubby & i have only been together for past 6 yrs. i use to board, plus have had trainers when i showed since age 3. I originally am from Germany. Father American, Mother Czeck & German. Father had his own business in Europe for 30 yrs. , was in Military prior to my birth.
